Old Town Cemetery - Galveston, Texas

Don’t die old, die empty. That’s the goal of life. Go to the cemetery and disappoint the graveyard.

I love the Old Town Cemetery in Galveston. There's so much history there (and now having said that I realize I say it a lot about a lot of other places but that doesn't make it any less true) and the area reminds me a little bit of the New Orleans cemeteries. After a fencing tournament in Houston Darrell and I couldn't resist taking a quick trip down. It turned out to be more of an extra long detour since we ended up getting chased away by a fast moving storm.

We had just enough time to wander around the cemetery, watching the clouds roll in, and stop along the seawall before the rain started. It was fierce and fast and once it started we headed north. But on the way out of town we stopped to pick up some pastries at The Sunflower Bakery & Cafe. You have to go. Just go. I've been several times and the food is amazing! And the key lime pie is my favorite and I can guarantee you won't be disappointed. Every time I've been there's been a bit of a wait so be prepared. But it's so worth it!

I'm not sure when we'll get the chance to go back but hopefully soon! What're your must see spots? Must eat places? I'm on the hunt for the perfect almond croissant (which I haven't been able to find since New Orleans) so if you've got any recommendations for that area let me know!
